HOUGHTON, MI (AP)-- The waters around the Keweenaw Peninsula have 1.5 million more walleye than they did a few days ago.
The Copper Country Walleye Association and the state Department of Natural Resources collaborated Monday to stock the 21-day-old walleye fry at several locations around the peninsula.
The Daily Mining Gazette of Houghton says the fish are about a quarter-inch long.
Association President Ross Rinkinen says this is the third year the club has collaborated with the DNR.
Other stocking will involve 100,000 older fingerling walleye. They're about 2.5 to three inches long.
