DELTA COUNTY, MI (AP)-- Forecasters are asking people to keep an eye out for rising water levels in the Escanaba River in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
The National Weather Service says warmer weather last week increased melting snow and water runoff into rivers, including the Escanaba River in Delta County.
Ice jams on the river also are contributing to fluctuating water levels.
Parts of the Upper Peninsula got several inches of snow on Monday. The forecast calls for moderate to heavy snow over the western and north-central portions of the U.P. from Wednesday through Thursday morning. That could being 6 to 10 inches of fresh snow.
