OLD MISSION PENINSULA, Mich. (AP) — A winery near Traverse City is donating $10,000 to plant nearly 200 trees in Michigan state parks.
The Department of Natural Resources says it's the first donation in a three-year partnership with Chateau Grand Traverse Winery on Old Mission Peninsula.
The trees will replace ones that were removed because of disease, from Belle Isle in Detroit to state parks in the Upper Peninsula.
Chateau Grand Traverse president Eddie O'Keefe presented the $10,000 check Thursday at P.J. Hoffmaster State Park in Muskegon.
The DNR says the winery is sharing 50 percent of profits from three wines.
