DELTA COUNTY, MI— Inclement weather has canceled not only this weekend’s UP200 Powered by NMU in Marquette, it’s also affecting a Delta County event.
Officials with the Hiawatha National Forest say Saturday’s Winter Trails Day at Rapid River Ski Trail has been called off. The trail has lost its snow base due to unseasonably warm weather and no significant snowfall is predicted for the coming week.
District Ranger Charlie Marsh says both zones of the national forest trails near Lake Michigan lost most of their snow in the recent warm spell. He notes skiers and snowshoers may still find agreeable conditions on the northern end of both zones.
