HOUGHTON, MI— The City of Houghton is one of four finalists for the Michigan Municipal League’s 2024 Community Excellence Award.
The CEA was developed in 2007 to recognize innovative placemaking projects and programs across the state. Finalists are determined by a small voting board, and they compete at the League’s convention, where attendees vote for their favorite project.
Houghton was selected for its “Connecting Houghton” project, which aims to connect the downtown area to the waterfront.
The city is competing with Brighton, Grandville, and Oak Park for the CEA trophy.
The Michigan Municipal League Convention takes place September 11-13 at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island.
