Two people killed in Laird Township fire, names released

LAIRD TOWNSHIP, MI— What authorities thought was a single fatality in a Houghton County house fire has become a double fatality.

Troopers from the Calumet Post responded Tuesday around 11:30 a.m. to a structure fire in Laird Township. One person was found dead at that time. Subsequent investigation led to the discovery of another deceased person.

Investigators believe the victims are Christopher Fogg, 37, and Leonidas Fogg, 5, but positive identification has not yet been made.

The incident remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
