LUCE COUNTY - More help is in the works for landowners affected by the Duck Lake fire in Luce County.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Farm Service Agency today announced that landowners affected by the fire may sign up for the ‘Emergency Forest Restoration Program.’ The application period runs through October 9.
The restoration program is a cost-share assistance program that provides payments to eligible owners of non-industrial private forest land to help restore land damaged by a natural disaster.
The Duck Lake wildfire started in May. It burned about 33 square miles.
