Lawmakers return to state capitol

LANSING, MI (AP)--   The Michigan Legislature returns for its first week of sessions since June, and only a handful more are scheduled between now and the election.

The Michigan Senate and House both are scheduled to meet Tuesday through Thursday.

The House plans to take no action requiring votes on Tuesday. The chamber instead will devote its entire its entire session to honoring first responders on the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The House and Senate have scheduled just eight sessions between now and the November 6 election.
