DETROIT (AP) — Some same-sex couples in Michigan who wed this weekend after the state's ban on gay marriage was overturned are now encountering roadblocks to some legal documents.
Couples who got married after obtaining licenses issued Saturday say they are being turned away when trying to have their names changed on driver's licenses because the state is appealing Friday's historic ruling.
Grand Rapids stay-at-home mom Bethany Joy Rozeboom says it has left her and her wife, Mary Winn, asking "now what?" The couple received a marriage license before the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati issued an order halting the ruling Friday by a federal judge in Detroit.
A spokeswoman for Gov. Rick Snyder says Michigan is awaiting legal direction from the appeals court and hoping for a swift resolution.
