Five more coronavirus cases reported in UP

MARQUETTE, MI--   Officials are reporting the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Keweenaw County. 

The Western UP Health Department says the virus was discovered during preoperative testing at a local hospital. The person had no symptoms.

Alger County is also reporting its first case, and one additional positive case each has been added to the total for Houghton, Marquette and Menominee counties.

As of Tuesday the Upper Peninsula has recorded 128 total COVID-19 cases and 16 deaths.

WUPHD health officer Kate Beer says case investigation and contact tracing are becoming even more important as stay-at-home orders are lifted.
