Battle with Negaunee continues as Ishpeming holds blood drive this week

ISHPEMING, MI— The City of Ishpeming is holding a blood drive Thursday.

City officials are trying to beat Negaunee in the 3rd Annual Blood Battle. Negaunee held its blood drive last month and Ishpeming residents are encouraged to give what they can this week.

Negaunee won the battle the first year. Ishpeming came back to win the second. Now, both cities will try to come first in 2024.

The drive takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ishpeming High School gym. Appointments are available by calling 906-315-1468.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
