Gladstone/Escanaba Township food drive a big success

GLADSTONE, MI— Gladstone and Escanaba Township’s yearly Christmas Candy Cane/Canned Food Drive netted a great haul Sunday night.

Officers from Gladstone Public Safety, firefighters from the Gladstone Volunteer Fire Department and Escanaba Township Volunteer Fire Department and many others walked the community, handing out candy canes and Yooper bars and collecting food for the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.

Officials received 3,920 pounds of nonperishable food and $781 during the event.

Officials are sending a huge “thank you” to everyone who donated and wish residents a wonderful holiday season.
