Fundraiser to be held in April for group that lets differently abled people experience woods, water

ISHPEMING, MI— A nonprofit group that helps people of different abilities get out into nature is holding a fundraising event in Ishpeming next month.

Erik Conradson is the executive director of Courage, Inc. He says it helps physically disabled individuals, veterans, and people living with chronic or terminal illnesses get out into the woods and on the water to participate in recreational activities.

“While we like to think that the outdoors is free and available for everybody, it really isn’t. And so, we’re an organization that helps make that possible for people who just couldn’t do it on their own.”

Conradson says the Courage, Inc. programs are really life-changing for some. They are completely free for participants and serve the entire Upper Peninsula.

The community fundraiser takes place Saturday, April 13th from 5-8 p.m. at River Rock Lanes & Banquet Center in Ishpeming. All proceeds from the event will go toward programs, equipment, and operations.
