Operation changes, lane closures on tap for Portage Lake Lift Bridge

HOUGHTON, MI— Inspections of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge will alter operations next week.

May 15^th through the 23^rd, a 30-minute advance notice will be required for a bridge lift from 8 p.m. to midnight and from 4 to 7 a.m. From midnight to 4 a.m., a two-hour notice will be required.

Inspections will be performed from a pontoon boat moored below the bridge, which will move to accommodate vessels.

On May 22^nd and May 23^rd there will also be morning and afternoon single-lane closures of the outside northbound and southbound lanes on the bridge to facilitate inspections from street level.
