Upgrades to close parts of UP DNR facilities next week

MARQUETTE, MI— Construction will close a portion of some DNR facilities early next month, as officials make improvements to roads and parking areas.

All closures will be in effect from Wednesday, August 2nd through Monday, August 7th.

In Baraga County, part of the main entry road to Craig Lake State Park will be closed. Two culverts will be installed, and gravel will be added and graded over the road.

At the Blueberry Ridge Pathway, off M-553 in Marquette County, the Crossroads and Lighted Loop parking areas will be closed. Gravel will be added and grading will take place at both parking areas.

The Thunder Valley Equestrian Trail, also off M-553, will be closed for parking area improvements.

And the Goose Lake boating access site, off County Road-480 south of Marquette, will also be closed for grading and roadway improvements.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
