Take unwanted, expired drugs to an MSP post this weekend

MARQUETTE, MI--   Michigan State Police posts across the state are acting as drug drop-off points on Saturday.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is a collaborative effort with the Drug Enforcement Administration and other law enforcement agencies to combat the opioid epidemic.

Troopers are urging residents to check their medicine cabinets and dispose of any unused, expired, and unwanted prescription pills.  Posts will collect medication from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., no questions asked. No liquids, inhalers, patches, or syringes will be accepted.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is held twice a year, in April and October. During the April 2018 effort, MSP posts collected roughly 966 pounds of prescription drugs.
