MSP to look into Iron County inmate death

CRYSTAL FALLS, MI--   The Iron County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the death of an inmate. 

January 11 around 7:50 a.m. deputies discovered a deceased inmate in the county jail. He is identified as Jonathan Parker.

Officials conducted an investigation and concluded Parker took his own life.

The Michigan State Police has been asked to do an independent investigation of the death.

No further details have been released at this time.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
