Sad ending for missing Wakefield man

GOGEBIC COUNTY, MI— The body of a missing man has been found in Gogebic County.

Monday around 6:30 p.m., the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about Rudy Massi, 37, of Wakefield. He was reported missing on March 31.

Deputies responded to the scene. Officials say melting snow had revealed old tracks left in the snow by Massi. They found his body just before 8 p.m.

The incident remains under investigation. An autopsy will be performed by the county’s forensic pathologist.

The Ironwood Public Safety Department and Gogebic County Search and Rescue assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
