Marquette residents to see water rates rise

MARQUETTE, MI--   Water rates are going up for Marquette City residents.

WLUC-TV reports the Municipal Utilities Department conducted a detailed analysis of utilities, infrastructure and assets and decided to increase rates to balance the budget.

The average residential customer will pay $16.78 more per month for water, sewer and storm water utilities.

The new rates are expected to raise an additional $2,096,000 per year for the city.
