Strega Nonna in Negaunee will host a benefit dinner and concert for Public Radio 90 on Sunday, January 18, bringing together live music, food, and community support. The evening features performances by May Erlewine and Joshua Davis, accompanied by a full buffet dinner served at the start of the night, followed by desserts.
The event reflects an ongoing relationship between Strega Nonna and both artists, who have previously performed at the restaurant for other community fundraisers. That shared history helped make the collaboration a natural fit, continuing the restaurant’s tradition of using its space to support local causes through music and hospitality.
Paste Studios hosted Joshua Davis in 2017:
Food will be a central part of the experience, featuring an abundant, buffet-style spread designed for communal sharing and enjoyment. The menu will come together organically, as is typical for Strega Nonna, with a mix of vegetarian options, hearty dishes, and possibly some locally sourced ingredients depending on availability. Desserts, including signature sweets, will be served later in the evening to round out the night.
Check out May Erlewine on Audiotree Live:
Strega Nonna regularly hosts live music and arts events, viewing the restaurant as more than a dining space. The goal is to create a place where people can gather, connect, and experience music, food, and culture together, especially during the quieter winter months.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Public Radio 90, supporting both its local programming and its connection to national and international public media. The fundraiser comes at a time when community-based support remains especially important for public radio.
Kurt Hauswirth spoke with Strega Nonna owner and chef Rachael Grossman about the event:
Doors open at 6 p.m. with the buffet, followed by Joshua Davis at 7 p.m. and May Erlewine at 8:15 p.m. Seating is limited, with general admission and a small number of VIP tables available, and tickets are selling quickly. Organizers encourage listeners to purchase tickets in advance and make plans for what promises to be an intimate, midwinter evening of music, food, and community support.
