Daniel Truckey

Host / Producer / Programmer

Daniel Truckey is the Sunday evening producer for Public Radio 90, and the programmer for the show, “Just Folks.” Dan is a lifelong lover of folk music, both American and International, and for several years was the director of the International Concert Series (also known as Northern Nights) on the campus of Northern Michigan University. Dan is also a musician, playing in the Celtic music trio, The Knockabouts, and is the coordinator of the Marquette Rockestra. He is an accomplished songwriter who has released several albums as a solo artist.

During the day, he is the director/curator of the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center. Before taking this position in 2007, he worked at museums in Iowa, Connecticut, New York, and Michigan. He received his BS in History in 1990 from Northern Michigan University, MA in Popular Culture in 1992 from Bowling Green State University, and MA in History Museum Studies in 1998 from the Cooperstown Graduate Program, SUNY-Oneonta. He is currently on the board of the Historical Society of Michigan and the Hiawatha Music Co-op. He is married to Leigh Barry and they have two children, Thomas (22), and Josie (18), two dogs (Zucchini and River), and a cat (Fabian).
