3 arrested in Eastern UP drug bust

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI--   The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force has arrested three people for smuggling and selling narcotics in Chippewa County.

Trident detectives have been investigating a group selling crystal meth and heroin in the region. Several controlled purchases of meth were made during the investigation.

Detectives received information that members drove downstate to bring back more drugs. On Sunday they stopped and executed search warrants on two vehicles. Trident seized more than 100 grams of meth and a smaller amount of heroin.

The people arrested and their charges are as follows:

River McGrail, 19, of Sault Ste. Marie

  • 3 counts of delivery of meth
  • Possession with intent to deliver meth
  • Conspiracy to deliver meth
  • Possession of heroin

Joslyn Ward, 25, of Sault Ste. Marie

  • Possession with intent to deliver meth
  • Possession of meth
  • Possession of heroin
  • Conspiracy to deliver meth

Cheyenne Manitowabi, 27, of Kentwood

  • Possession with intent to deliver meth
  • Possession of heroin
  • Maintaining a drug house
  • Obstructing justice

All three are lodged in the Chippewa County Jail.
Trident was assisted by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department.
