MUNISING, MI-- The Alger County Chamber of Commerce has canceled this summer’s Pictured Rocks Days.
The Munising event was scheduled for June 13 and 14 at Binsfeld Bayshore Park. It normally draws thousands of people each year, but authorities decided to cancel the celebration to keep everyone safe. Chamber Executive Director Kathy Reynolds says there was no other choice.
Also canceled this year is the Pictured Rocks Cruises Yoopers Ride Free event. The cruise line offers Upper Peninsula residents a free tour of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore with a valid ID.
Officials say they’re saddened by the turn of events, but can’t wait to celebrate with visitors next year.
