Arrests made in Escanaba beating

ESCANABA, MI--   Two suspects in the beating of an Escanaba man have been taken into custody.

Saturday at 2:18 a.m. Public Safety officers were called to the 1200 block of 1st Avenue South on a report that a man had been assaulted.  Police found the man, who was suffering “apparent and remarkable” injuries. 

The victim was taken to OSF St. Francis hospital, then airlifted by Valley Med Flight to UP Health System Marquette for further treatment.   

Investigation led officers to identify two suspects in the case.  They remain lodged in the Delta County Jail pending review of the incident by the Delta County Prosecutor’s Office. 

Escanaba Public Safety was assisted by the Delta County Sheriff’s Office and the Michigan State Police Gladstone Post.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
