Benishek makes stops in Upper Peninsula

MANISTIQUE, MI--   U.S. Representative Dan Benishek is visiting a couple of U.P. counties Tuesday to talk about health care and a veterans’ honor flight.   

  

The Crystal Falls Republican met with officials at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique at 9:30 a.m. to talk about how the new health care law is affecting the area.  He also met with Schoolcraft County Commissioners at 10:40 a.m. to discuss health care for county employees. 

Benishek travels to Delta County at 5 p.m. Tuesday to meet up with 79 veterans of World War II and the Korean War.  The vets are part of Mission IV the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight out of the Delta County Airport in Escanaba.  They will be flown to Washington, D.C. Wednesday morning to view memorials dedicated to both wars. 

Benishek will speak with veterans and their families at the Quality Inn and Suites in Escanaba.    

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
