Bessemer man arrested following shooting

BESSEMER, MI--   A Bessemer man is jailed for shooting and injuring another man Wednesday night.

The Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office says Timothy Wigman, 26, was arrested for shooting Tyler Maki, 26, also of Bessemer, in the chest at Wigman’s house on Beecher Street.

Maki was taken to Aspirus Ironwood for treatment. His condition is unknown.

Maki is charged with felonious assault with intent to murder, felony firearms, possession of a short-barreled firearm, possession/discharge of a firearm while under the influence, causing serious impairment, and possession of a dangerous weapon (metallic knuckles).

He remains lodged in the Gogebic County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
