Brunke sentenced on drug charges

MANISTIQUE, MI--   A Manistique man serving time in connection with a Doyle Township triple homicide has been sentenced on cocaine delivery charges.

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette says Kenneth Brunke, 47, was given 225 to 360 months in prison Thursday. He had pleaded no contest in March to delivery of cocaine—1,000 or more grams, conspiracy to deliver cocaine—1,000 or more grams, and delivery of a controlled substance—less than 50 grams.

Brunke was one of three suspects charged in the murders of Jody Hutchinson, Heather Aldrich, and Carrie Nelson, whose bodies were found in a burned-out car in April of 2015.

Brunke was sentenced in the original case to 40 to 60 months in prison for obstruction of justice and lying to a peace officer. The judge asked the attorney general’s office to assist in the drug case pending against Brunke.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
