Calumet Colisseum wins Kraft Hockeyville title

CALUMET, MI--   The town of Calumet is this year’s Kraft Hockeyville USA.

The Calumet Colosseum received the most votes over the weekend out of a pool of four finalists. The 106-year-old rink is getting $150,000 for upgrades and has a chance to host a preseason NHL hockey game. NHL.com says the Colosseum is also getting $10,000 worth of new equipment from the National Hockey League Players’ Association Goals & Dreams fund.

Magen Hanrahan is vice president of media and marketing services at Kraft Heinz. She said community support is pivotal in the Hockeyville USA competition and the Calumet Colosseum showed the passion and determination of a true champion. She said the Colosseum is an inspiration to local hockey communities across America.

The other finalists were rinks in Eagle River, Wisconsin; Cadillac, Michigan; and Sartell, Minnesota.
