Falkenberg sentenced to life in prison

SOUTH DAKOTA--   A South Dakota man convicted of killing his girlfriend and dumping her dismembered body in a U.P. river has been sentenced to life in prison.

In January a jury found Stephen Falkenberg, 45, guilty of first-degree manslaughter and second-degree murder in the death of Tamara LaFramboise, 46, in March 2019. Falkenberg said LaFramboise hit her head and died after he pushed her during an argument in South Dakota. Her torso was later found in Menominee County’s Little River.

Falkenberg will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
