Home invasion reported in Negaunee Township

NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI--   State Police from the Negaunee Post have arrested a male suspect for home invasion.

Saturday around 1:10 a.m. troopers were dispatched to Longyear Drive in Negaunee Township. The homeowner reported they’d heard several loud bangs and found a man inside the entryway of the house.  The resident confronted and yelled at the suspect, who fled.

Troopers arrived at the scene and found the suspect, who ran into some woods.  Troopers called in a State Police K-9, who eventually found the male suspect lying on the ground.  It appears he had run into a tree and knocked himself unconscious.

The suspect was arrested for home invasion and resisting and obstructing an officer.

Marquette County Sheriff’s deputies assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
