Man thrown out of truck in Marquette County accident

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Marquette man suffered minor injuries when he was ejected from his truck in an accident Thursday in Marquette Township.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was called around 3:15 p.m. to US-41 West near Northwoods Road. Deputies say a Ford F-350 was eastbound on 41 when the driver lost control after applying the brakes. The truck began to rotate until the front was facing southbound while the vehicle slid eastbound. The driver tried to correct the vehicle to face east, and as it rotated back it threw the man out of the driver’s side door.

The man landed on the paved portion of the highway and rolled onto the shoulder. He was taken to UPHS-Marquette with minor injuries.

Deputies say the truck had several defects and was unsafe to be on the road. The driver was cited for defective equipment.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
