Manistique Township garage consumed by fire

MANISTIQUE TOWNSHIP, MI--   Fire destroyed a Manistique Township garage Saturday morning.

WLUC-TV says firefighters from Manistique Public Safety and the Doyle and Hiawatha Township Volunteer Fire Departments were called around 7 a.m. to 1313 North Scharstrom Road and found a two-stall garage on fire.

The residence, which was very close to the garage, suffered only minor heat damage on its siding.

Neither the homeowners nor the firefighters were injured.  The garage, which contained a vehicle, a snowmobile, a 4-wheeler and other items, was a total loss.

Officials believe the cause of the fire was electrical in nature, but its origin remains under investigation.
