Marquette marathon takes place this weekend

MARQUETTE, MI--   Hundreds of runners are heading to Ishpeming Saturday to take their place at the start of the 8th annual Marquette Marathon.

The race starts at 7:30 a.m. near the Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum. The half-marathon begins at 9 a.m. at the Michigan Iron Industry Museum in Negaunee.

Both courses will join at the Iron Ore Heritage Trail as runners head down to the city of Marquette. Marathoners will run to Presque Isle, circle the island, and go for the finish at Michigan and Third streets. Half-marathoners will skip the island but will finish the race at the same spot.

Several other activities are planned. For more information go to marquettemarathon.com.
