Moped rider struck by car in Iron Mountain

IRON MOUNTAIN, MI--   One person was taken to the hospital, following a car-moped crash in Iron Mountain Sunday. 

Police were dispatched just after 5 p.m. to the intersection of East F Street and River Avenue. They say an 89-year-old Iron Mountain woman was eastbound on F Street when she failed to stop at the stop sign. She struck a moped that was southbound on River Avenue. It was driven by a 32-year-old Iron Mountain man.

The man was taken to Dickinson County Hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Michigan State Police assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
