Negaunee 5th grade teacher noted for innovative teaching methods

NEGAUNEE, MI--   A Negaunee Middle School teacher has been recognized for making school a place where students want to be.

Kyle Saari teaches 5th grade. He was recently featured on a statewide series about innovative ways of teaching. “BRIGHT: Stories of Hope and Innovation in Michigan Classrooms” is a podcast and blog series from Michigan Virtual. It features Michigan educators known for their innovative approach to learning, what their classrooms look like, how these changes impact students, and what advice they have for fellow teachers looking to try something new.

Saari says, “I make sure that my students feel empowered to make their own choices so that they can find their passion. I believe that comfort leads to confidence.”

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
