NMU Board vice chair leaves

MARQUETTE, MI--   The vice chair of the Northern Michigan University Board of Trustees has resigned.

Thomas Zurbuchen says he can’t complete his eight-year term because he’s been named associate administrator for NASA Science Mission Directorate in Washington, D.C.  His resignation is effective immediately.  Zurbuchen assumed his new duties on Monday.

Zurbuchen oversees NASA's programs in astrophysics, planetary science, earth science and heliophysics.

He was appointed to NMU’s Board in 2013 by Governor Rick Snyder and elected by fellow trustees as vice chair this year.

Governor Snyder will appoint another trustee to serve out the remainder of Zurbuchen’s term.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
