No injuries reported in Escanaba car fire

ESCANABA, MI--   A vehicle caught on fire just west of Escanaba on Friday. 

Around 4:30 p.m. Escanaba Public Safety officers were dispatched to the 4900 block of US-2 & 41. The vehicle was on the shoulder of the road, its engine compartment and front seats engulfed in flames. Officers extinguished it and a small grass fire near the vehicle.

The passenger from the vehicle complained of smoke inhalation but refused an ambulance. No other injuries were reported.

The fire remains under investigation.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
