One killed in Sands Township mobile home fire

SANDS TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Sands Township woman has died in a mobile home fire.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says emergency crews responded just before 9 a.m. Saturday to the 553 Mobile Estates Trailer Park, lot 127. They say heavy smoke and fire were coming from the trailer when they arrived. Deputies tried to find the homeowner but attempts to look inside the trailer were not possible.

After the fire was extinguished a woman’s body was found in the trailer. The Sheriff’s Office is working with the Marquette County Medical Examiner’s Office to positively identify the body.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
