ESCANABA, MI-- Nurses at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba have ratified a three-year contract.
The Michigan Nurses Association says under the new agreement all nurses secured raises to bring up low salaries to be competitive with other area hospitals. Registered nurses had said recruiting and retaining RNs was a priority during contract negotiations.
More than 130 nurses have been working without a contract since May 1. Officials say an overwhelming majority of nurses voted for the agreement.
The newly ratified contract takes effect immediately.
