NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI-- State police from the Negaunee post are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Negaunee Township.
Troopers were called Thursday to US-41 near Brebner Road. Preliminary investigation indicates a Toyota Avalon driven by an 81-year-old Sands Township man was eastbound when he tried to turn left. He drove into the path of a westbound Chevy Colorado pickup driven by a 57-year-old man from Champion.
A 78-year-old woman in the Avalon was killed in the crash.
Both drivers were taken to UPHS-Marquette for treatment.
The accident remains under investigation.
Names of those involved will be released upon notification of next of kin.
