Search and rescue find hiker lost in Ely Township

ELY TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Wisconsin woman was rescued after her vehicle became stuck on a two-track road in Ely Township.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue were dispatched Tuesday around 7 p.m. to an area about 1.5 miles southwest of Brocky Lake. Katrina Moe, 32, of Appleton had called 911 to say her vehicle was stuck on the Grapevine Trail off of Wolf Lake Road. She said she’d been walking for a couple of hours.

Officers used Moe’s cell phone to get her GPS coordinates. They found her safe and sound. No medical attention was needed.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
