DELTA COUNTY, MI-- A missing snowmobiler from Ishpeming has been found dead in Delta County.
Marquette County Sheriff Greg Zyburt says the body of Dennis Pellinen, 54, was found at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday on North Rock Road. His snowmobile apparently ran off the road and hit a tree.
Pellinen was reported missing after he left his secondary residence in McFarland early Sunday morning and didn’t return. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
A Michigan state police helicopter flew to KI Sawyer to assist in the search, but was grounded due to bad weather after it landed to refuel.
Officials believe speed and alcohol were factors in the accident.
The crash scene was turned over to the Delta County Sheriff’s Office for investigation.
