Shot fired in Ironwood Walmart

IRONWOOD, MI--   A customer accidentally discharged a firearm in the Ironwood Walmart store Thursday.

Gogebic County Sheriff’s deputies responded around 2:35 p.m. after someone reported a gunshot in the store. Officers determined it was an accidental discharge by a customer in a restroom.

The 58-year-old man left the building, but immediately returned to report the incident to police on scene. There were no injuries and no threat to others.

Officers say the man is legally licensed to carry a concealed weapon.

The Gogebic County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the case.
