Suspect arrested after leaving the scene of a Marquette Township crash

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI--   A Marquette man is jailed, after he crashed his vehicle in Marquette Township and left the scene. 

Sheriff’s deputies were called Friday around 10:35 p.m. to South Vandenboom Road near Grover Street. They found an unattended vehicle rolled over.

While deputies investigated, the driver—identified as James Ward—returned to the scene. He wasn’t injured and denied medical treatment.  

Deputies suspected either alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. They arrested Ward on for suspicion of operating under the influence of a controlled substance. He was lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
