Two vehicles collide in Tilden Township

TILDEN TOWNSHIP, MI--   An Ishpeming woman suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Marquette County’s Tilden Township.

State Police from the Negaunee post say Monday around 12:20 p.m. a Lowe’s delivery truck driven by James Cornelius, 56, of Gwinn, was northbound on County Road 581.  He was trying to turn left onto County Road PPL when he was struck by another northbound vehicle driven by Maria Stanaway, 39, of Ishpeming.  Stanaway was trying to pass the truck as it turned.  After the collision her vehicle continued northbound in the ditch, then struck a utility pole.

Stanaway sought her own treatment of minor injuries.  Cornelius was not injured.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Ishpeming Township Fire and Rescue, and Ely Township First Responders.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
