UPDATE: M-28 remains closed between Marquette and Munising

2:10 p.m. UPDATE - According to the MDOT U.P. Twitter account a few hours ago, M-28 between Harvey and Munising remains closed this afternoon.  Crews are working to remove stranded vehicles and 6-8 foot snow drifts.  The earliest expected opening is 5 p.m.  In the mean time, use the M-94 alternate route from Skandia to Munising.

MARQUETTE, MI--   State Police from the Negaunee say the highway is closed to motor vehicle traffic until further notice.  The alternate route is M-94 in Munising to US-41 in Skandia.

The Alger and Marquette County Road Commissions will make assessments Wednesday morning regarding efforts to plow and reopen M-28.

There are no time estimates available as to when the highway will reopen.
