Wells Township ORV accident claims life

WELLS TOWNSHIP, MI--   An 80-year-old man has been killed in an ORV crash in Marquette County.

State Police from the Negaunee Post say it happened just before midnight on Saturday in Wells Township. The operator was westbound on County Road 426 near County Road CN when the crash happened.

Lifesaving measures were performed by responding personnel but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers believe alcohol and speed were both factors in the accident, which remains under investigation.

State Police were assisted by the Forsyth Township Police, Forsyth Township EMS/Fire, and the Wells Township EMS/Fire departments.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
