Ishpeming and Skandia get Recreation Passport grants

MARQUETTE COUNTY, MI— Two Marquette County municipalities have been awarded Recreation Passport grants from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

The program’s goal is to boost visitation and funding for Michigan state parks and create more funding for local, community parks and trails enhancement.

Ishpeming’s Teal Lake Water Trail is getting $114,000 and $142,500 has been slated for renovation of the Skandia Township Hall Park.

Nearly $2 million in Recreation Passport Grants was awarded to 16 projects around the state.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
