Hancock wins state hockey title

PLYMOUTH, MI--   The Hancock Bulldogs have captured the Division 3 state high school hockey championship.

The Bulldogs won 4-2 over the Grand Rapids Catholic Central Cougars at the USA Hockey Arena Saturday in downstate Plymouth.

It’s the first state title to go to a U.P. team in eight years and the second title ever won by Hancock.  The hockey Bulldogs last secured the top spot in 1999.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
