Jibba Jabba returns to downtown Houghton in February

HOUGHTON, MI— A professional snowboarding event returns to downtown Houghton next month.

The Jibba Jabba Rail Jam will be held Saturday, February 17th at 6 p.m. Riders will navigate a snow course on Huron Street that will stretch from Shelden Avenue to the pier. Lakeshore Drive will be closed for the event and packed over with snow for trick features.

It’s the second year Jibba Jabba will be held, following a ten-year hiatus.

Spectators can go early the night before and watch officials create the course.

The City of Houghton is helping to coordinate the event by bringing in the snow and laying down the course.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
